About Bronchogen

Bronchogen is a four-residue peptide, Ala-Glu-Asp-Leu (AEDL, ~C18H30N4O9), one of the short synthetic "peptide bioregulators" developed by V. Kh. Khavinson and colleagues. Some primary Khavinson-group papers write the sequence as Ala-Asp-Glu-Leu (ADEL); the two notations refer to the same named compound but disagree on the order of the internal glutamic- and aspartic-acid residues.

Published preclinical studies report a DNA-stabilizing effect (raising the melting temperature of isolated DNA) in a biophysical assay, modulation of proliferation- and differentiation-related genes and proteins in cultured human bronchial epithelial cells, and reduced airway-remodeling features in a rat model of obstructive lung pathology. The evidence is small and dominated by a single research group; there are no published human clinical trials, and it has no regulatory approval for human use.
