About Pinealon

Pinealon is the tripeptide Glu-Asp-Arg (EDR; PubChem CID 10273502, C15H26N6O8), one of the ultrashort peptide bioregulators described by V. Kh. Khavinson and colleagues and studied in relation to neuronal tissue.

In cell-culture studies, EDR has been reported to reduce accumulation of reactive oxygen species and support cell viability under oxidative-stress conditions; in rodent models it has been studied for effects on the developing and stressed brain, including models of prenatal hyperhomocysteinemia and Alzheimer’s-type pathology. A review by the originating group proposes DNA-binding and signaling mechanisms. The literature is genuine but concentrated in a single affiliated research group, and independent replication and randomized human trials are lacking; all findings are preclinical.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Pinealon?

Pinealon is the common name for the synthetic tripeptide Glu-Asp-Arg (EDR), a member of the Khavinson class of short peptide bioregulators. It has been studied in cell and animal models in relation to neuronal tissue and oxidative stress, and is supplied for research use only.

What is Pinealon peptide?

It is a synthetic three-amino-acid peptide (glutamic acid–aspartic acid–arginine, EDR), molecular formula C15H26N6O8 (PubChem CID 10273502). In preclinical work it has been examined for effects on reactive oxygen species and cell viability and for neuronal outcomes in rodent models.

What is the sequence of Pinealon?

Pinealon is the tripeptide Glu-Asp-Arg, abbreviated EDR (L-glutamic acid, L-aspartic acid, L-arginine; formula C15H26N6O8).

What has Pinealon been studied for in research?

In published preclinical literature, EDR has been investigated for effects on oxidative stress and cell viability in cell cultures and for neuronal and behavioral endpoints in rodent models, including models of prenatal hyperhomocysteinemia and Alzheimer’s-type pathology. These are laboratory and animal studies; no human-treatment conclusions are stated.

Is Pinealon approved for human use?

No. Pinealon (EDR) is not approved by any regulator as a drug or dietary supplement and is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease. It is offered strictly for laboratory research use only.
